“I actually don’t care too much whether or not Disney does 2D or CGI movies. All that matters to me is that they continue to have great stories, great music, great characters, and above all, the Disney magic.”
I just don’t like the idea of computers slowly killing an entire art form.
I like CGI but I like how traditional animation looks too. I’m sure a lot of people feel the same way. Why can’t we just have both? Apathy doesn’t help.
How I feel about this subject is similar to how I feel about comics, I guess. People fret about comics being dead because the big two aren’t doing so hot, but to me comics are more exciting than ever. Just look at what independent comic artists are doing. Kate Beaton just does silly history comics, but now she’s a best seller. Some people may not consider it a comic, but jeez, just look at Homestuck. When the end of Act 5 came out it broke newgrounds. I don’t think comics are going anywhere.
Same with animation! As the movie and television market start to kinda suck (even though I don’t think they are at all actually) there’s gonna be plenty of alternative animation to seek out thanks to the internet. Just go to Cartoon Brew, there’s SO MANY innovative animated shorts out there, from traditional to CGI to stop motion as well.
Art forms aren’t going anywhere, the market just changes. And thanks to the internet, super exciting things are happening RIGHT NOW too.
Do people just think 3D animation comes out of nowhere????????
It’s fucking hard and requires a lot of skill and creativity so sit down.
