Ugh, it’s really late and my brain is shutting down, but I really wanted to address this since I saw this on my dash. More specifically, this part:

I’ve really struggled to identify the exact reason why Kung Fu Panda, more specifically Po, really struck a cord with me and I think you hit the nail on the head with this part.

Makes me sad to hear Po’s such an asshole in the show, because I always really liked the fact that Po’s not some arrogant, entitled fanboy who thinks he knows everything. He knows a lot about his idols, certainly, but he’s absolutely enthusiastic about learning more, is very respectful, and diligent. He’s a great character and the kind of guy I WANT to see more of, so I guess he works well for Dreamworks since they insist on churning out so many sequels to their works.

Just guhhh. I love these films so much and was so excited for Legends of Awesomeness because I wanted to see more of the Furious Five. I liked the first episode I saw, though it was a far-cry from the films, but the stuff I’ve seen from other episodes has left me less than impressed. Pity.

[/braindead rambling]

The mediocre TV adaptation at least helped clarify why I love Po—it’s exactly that, he’s not a jerk.  He is a genuinely good and kind soul.  There’s way more nuance to his character, and I really appreciate even more what the original DreamWorks team has done with him.  The TV show completely misses his nuance, his entire character, going for something that’s too obvious and tiring, and thus loses his character, and he’s just…unrecgonizable.  That’s not Po.

Way to have something mediocre for compare/contrast to make me appreciate Po even more.
