waltdisneyconfessions:

“I know that people have differing opinions, but I honestly don’t understand how anyone could hate Tangled. I saw it three times in theaters and watch the DVD all the time. It reminds me of how great Disney used to be. The music, the characters, the story, it’s all perfect in my eyes.”

The fact is, though, people DO, and most of them have pretty good reasons for it. They might dislike the characters, the animation, the music… when all’s said and done, it’s a matter of opinion. What you should do is just accept that they’re out there and they’re allowed to dislike it. If you don’t see any flaws, then that’s fine, but not everyone’s going to think the same way, and that’s what people are going to have to accept. I wish I didn’t have to say this, but given the sheer outrage over that Barbie-related confession a week ago, I feel like it had to be said. You don’t have to agree. You don’t even have to understand, necessarily. You just have to accept that those people have a right to their opinion.

Let me give you an example of my own; the Captain. While I won’t call the whole franchise/movie flawless, to me, he is. I literally have no problem with anything that character does. I cannot really understand how anyone could have a problem with him; but, if they do, if they have a good reason and if they have no problem with me liking him (and that last one’s the most important thing to me, I reckon), I can accept it.

Gonna ask this directly: Why do you like the Captain?  I’m really just curious.  It’s not because I dislike him.  It’s more because I forget about him.  Up against Maximus, he just really fades into the background.  But I do like the implied bond he has with Maximus.  He does not doubt that horse for a second.
