the library (of fun): I really want to write TF: Prime fic including characters from Bayverse.
Mikaela, Blackout and Scorponok, I’m looking at you.
Ah hah, I’ve been thinking about adding Mikaela (or at least giving her an extended cameo/supporting role) later in my…
I’m a big fan of Mirage being a pretty loyal Autobot but everyone suspecting him of treason or being a double-agent because he’s a spy. It’s ripped straight out of G1, I know, but I think it’s a compelling conflict, especially as it allows for an exploration of classism (i.e., Mirage never fit in with the ‘Bots because of his superiority complex about his class, and so they don’t trust him even though he’s a valuable and necessary part of their army). That’s the Mirage I like to read about~.
Aww, poor Steve. He just can’t win, can he?
Otherwise, though, it vaguely distresses me how close some of your thoughts are running to what I’ve decided my headcanon is for drones. XD Here I am, sitting here going “They’re not gonna have SPARKS and they’re going to be AIs instead of machine intelligences and it’ll be so GREAT AND COOL AND NEW” and uh. Well. Guess not. Maybe I ought to rework it some, huh?
Hee, maybe I’ll end up using it. I don’t actually know how long Mikaela’s going to have access to the drone while it’s conscious, so IDK if she’ll actually have an opportunity to name it, but it’s a cute thought either way. X3
Bleh, sadly I’ve stalled out on my trine-fic. I realized as I was working on it that it’s going to be a lot bigger than I anticipated in terms of both scope and wordcount, and I don’t have nearly enough plot to sustain it right now. I really need to sit down and figure out the backstory for my interpretation of TFP!Megatron before I can go any further.
Mirage sounds cool.
Actually, sorta reminds me of spy!Snape from “Harry Potter.”*pets Mirror!Steve* I think at some point the others just point it out to Mirror!Starscream and he’s just so confused, especially after he digests it more and has no clue what do about it. XD
If you want, but I think it’s fine—actually I’m gratified you’re thinking the same, makes me think it’ll come across as all the more believable in fic. XD But really, I wasn’t necessarily thinking of figuring out a new and great and cool interpretation, but just focusing on an interpretation that would make sense, based on what little canon’s showing us, implied or explicit, and that’s just what I came up with. I mean, I think if we’re both looking at the same thing, it’s possible to come to the similar/same conclusion, if we’re trying to work it out logically via observation (and not always come to wildly different interpretations based on our POVs). I’m going all meta on like this thought process because this kinda happened to me before in another fandom, where like me and one other person or two other people pretty much reached the same headcanon on a character by just observing that character and expanding on his canon.
Will the drone’s memory be wiped, like amnesia?
Know that feeling of being stalled/writer’s block. I think I heard in TFP Megatron was a miner who worked his way up to gladiator, etc., and I’m just running with that for Mirrorverse, it sounds super interesting.
Oh Starscream, you are really the most clueless, aren’t you?
Heh, I guess that makes sense! I mean, TFP hasn’t told us a lot about the drone forces, that’s for sure, but they’ve given up some parameters we should be working within, so it’s only logical that our attempts to fill things in for them might end up in the same general place… :|9 I’m used to my headcanons for TF stuff being wildly off-base for what the rest of fandom takes as fact, so it threw me a bit when what we were both coming up with was so close. Anyway, I’m excited to see the way you take, if that’s what you go with, because I’m sure your execution will be different from my own even if the core concepts are the same.
As for the drone, I don’t really know! I haven’t plotted that far in advance. I doubt he’ll have his memory wiped, but I don’t know yet how long Mikaela’s going to have to work on him before the ‘Bots and the ‘Cons interfere.
Well, that’s the backstory for the Megatron in War for Cybertron so we’re supposed to apply it to Prime!Megatron, but I think I want to go a different way with him. I mean, I do love the miner!Megatron -> gladiator!Megatron origin story— Megatron Origin, anyone?— but I’m not sure it fits into what I want my interpretation of this Megatron to be. But IDK! Like I said, I still need to sit down and think on it.
Yay, dug this up for the wealth of information discussed. And clueless Starscream in any dimension and the poor Eradicon in love with him.
