Hello reader,

Welcome to another week in movie tracking. This week I watched a fair amount of movies and caught up on the BBC series Sherlock. The last episode I saw was “the Blind Banker” and have finally caught up with “The Great Game” which was great. I’m eagerly anticipating watching the second series. Also watched the first three episodes of “Alcatraz” which was really good. I really like the lead actress a lot and Jorge Garcia is really beginning to shine in his new role. The third episode really showed a lot of promise. I also caught up with the series finale of “Chuck” which was kind of sad but optimistic. It was a really good show that did have flaws but for the most part had it’s tongue in its cheek which worked for me most of the time.

Recently I have released three article blog posts for this month and thought I did pretty good with them. I have decided though that I probably will not be doing my “Classic Film Requisition” as a monthly feature. Sorry but I’m having a hard time formatting that kind of post right now. I will probably just make it a more erratic feature that I’ll post when I can. I will need to come up with something for a fourth feature for this month, though.

We’ll see.

Okay, now here are the movies that I’ve watched this week:

Decoys, 2003

Yikes, what was I thinking renting this movie. Big mistake. It was terrible and not in a fun way. This was probably the worst movie I’ve seen all year. The effects are bad, the narrative is pointless and the characters are bland and not believable. I recommend not seeing this movie for any reason.

Decoys 2: The Alien Seduction, 2007

Oh my gosh, I thought the first one was bad, what in the world possessed me to watch the sequel. It’s probably as bad as the original but I dare say it may be worse. Seriously a waste of time watching this one. It totally retcons what happened at the end of the first one and it’s still just as pointless. You probably had no intention of seeing this movie anyway but really if you see try and to avoid it.

Kill list, 2012

I had heard a lot of buzz about this movie from podcasts and stuff and since it was available on itunes VOD, I figured I would check it out. Now I’m not going to say this movie is bad, but it’s definitely a hard movie to get into at first. It’s a British film some abrasive hard to follow English speak. I don’t know if everybody has this problem of heavy accents being hard to follow but I surely do. This movie is a bit of a slow burn so be aware that it may feel slow but it does pick up and in the end it will be worth it.

This movie is getting a lot of attention and it does deserve it’s interest but I honestly believe that this movie may be getting a little overhyped and I think people should be aware that it’s not going to blow your mind in any real way. It’s surely an interesting film but I personally didn’t find it to be that introspective as some of what I heard. You’ll probably hear a whole lot of talk about going into this movie fresh and avoid spoilers and stuff, but I believe I probably wouldn’t have been so disappointed if I had known what I was getting into beforehand. Maybe I’m wrong I don’t know but I watched it and found it a bit hard to get through and when I reached the end I thought it was yes worth going through the whole entire 90 minutes of the feature but didn’t find anything really profound about it.

A lot of people are reading into this movie ideas that I don’t feel are in it exactly, but that’s their opinion and that’s fine. I would say check out this movie and decide for yourself what you think of it, but maybe you should wait until it comes out on DVD or on a movie channel or something, and maybe you want to know what you’re getting into.

Kung Fu Panda, 2008

Oh man, I watched this for the first time this week and I thought it was awesome. It was really funny and fun and beautifully animated. It’s just a extremely well done film and Dreamworks proved themselves worthy of making quality films.

Kung Fu Panda 2, 2011

This was also really good. Gary Oldman as the voice of the baddie in this was so perfect I just thought the whole thing played out awesomely. This one was also so heartfelt in places just omg really freaking amazing. I can’t believe that they could outdo the first film but I think they did. Kung fu panda was a lot of fun but watching them both back to back was really great.

Alright, so that about wraps it for this week, tune in next week for more movie watching.

Stay tuned.
