TFP fic sneak peek!

nellasaur:

Wow, a lot more people came and answered my question about TF fanfic the other day than I expected! I really appreciated all the encouragement, folks. It was honestly kind of unexpected?

But I was able to sit down and almost double my word count on the fic in question last night! Huzzah!

So as a thank you, here’s a little sneak peek at what I’ve been working on, featuring Starscream and Thundercracker:

***

“Wasted your time?” Thundercracker repeated. “Your time doing what, Starscream? Pacing and plotting? How is that more important that letting me keep you from falling apart?” Though he’d started out angry, by the time Thundercracker finished, the words were more a plea than anything else. He reached out with both hands like he was going to grab Starscream, but arrested the movement before he made contact and dropped his hands to the edge of the slab instead.

Frozen in place by Thundercracker’s proximity, Starscream stared uncertainly down at the Seeker practically bent over his lap. Thundercracker’s striking blue wings were twitching, and there was a line of tension through his shoulders that was very familiar to Starscream.

He saw it himself every time he looked in a mirror, after all.

Reaching out, Starscream brushed one of Thundercracker’s shoulder guards with tentative fingertips. The contact was like a shock; touching Thundercracker like this made it almost impossible to keep the bond between them shielded. Starscream found himself suddenly flooded with a simmering, impotent frustration that was very much not his own. He jerked his hand back with a hiss.

“I don’t understand you,” Thundercracker said quietly, his voice hardly louder than a whisper. He kept his head bowed, so that all Starscream could see was the back of his helm, the sloping plane of his shoulders, the sweeping lines of his wings. “You’d wear yourself to pieces before you’d ask me to fix you. You shield your bond from us like you’re afraid of it. Lately you’ve been spending more time with that gladiator of yours than with your own trinemates.”

Finally Thundercracker looked up, and the anguish in his optics was very poorly concealed. “If you hate us so damn much, Starscream, why did you consent to be bonded to us?”

Ta-da~ Hopefully I’ll have the full thing finished and ready to go soon!
