I’ve noticed that the red of Starscream’s optics only fills the entire eye cavity when he’s totally freaked out. So far that’s been when Megatron tried to kill him in the cave, when Arcee had him cuffed, and just recently when he found Optimus in the control room.
So… automatic puppy eye defense?
