To all those who are upset at Glen leaving Disney, I agree, it’s a great loss. And yes, it’s very tragic. He is a constant inspiration to me, and my personal goals in animation. I understand how this can be upsetting, but he’s not going to go away forever!
Glen’s been planning to leave Disney since sometime last year. There’s been mentions he wanted to start his own studio, and grow as an artist. I’m not really upset he’s leaving - because he’s just going somewhere else. Where he feels he can produce what he wants to work on! He might even end up back there consulting, or he might make some amazing pieces without having his animation cut out (think what might have happened to Part Of Your World).
I’m so happy he’s made this move; who knows what he has up his sleeve! The man will be a animation god wherever he goes. Personally, I’d want to end up at his animation studio before applying at Disney. And as a side note, I have a tutor currently who worked at Disney through the 70s and 80s. He left to start up personal projects, and now he’s working to help autistic people with short animation projects covering difficult topics. We can hope that Glen’s out to help people just the same.
Tarzan, Ariel, Beast, Rapunzel and Aladdin - all the characters he helped shape will always be there!
