avataraang:

I do not understand the Suprise Me! function on Amazon.com at all. If you click it enough times it seems you can read virtually the whole comic.

Came across this page while flicking through. Oh Zuko.

It appears if you leave him alone for more than 6 months he turns into a jerkface again.

where is iroh you are the only one that can make zuko look at his life look at his choices

We haven’t seen Iroh AT ALL in any of these comics pages.  I find that very suspicious….

So, theory:

Something bad has happened to Iroh related to anti-Fire Nation sentiments.  Zuko is losing it over this.

I doubt they’d go so far as killing Iroh off in the comics.  Even if Korra’s timeline implies that Iroh unfortunately must be dead by Korra’s time, and there’s just no specification HOW that would happen….  I think the more likely option is that Iroh is severly wounded, enough to put him in a coma and unvailable to Zuko, who flounders without his uncle and especially because his uncle is in a precarious situation.

Until I see anything else that suggests otherwise, this theory of incapacitated-Iroh-setting-Zuko-off has these sorta-out-of-context pages make more sense to me: Zuko’s apparent issues cropping back up again, Iroh’s absence, Zuko going to Ozai of all people for advice….

The only issue I see with this theory is that I’m not sure the other characters’ reactions mesh with something grievous happening to Iroh and knocking him out of the situation and causing the current crisis…unless they don’t know something’s happened to Iroh, or Zuko’s tried to cover it up to protect his recovering uncle.  And again, Zuko would still probably be the most affected by anything bad happening to Iroh.

And another semi-related thing: we still haven’t seen Zuko go on any searches for his mother, though he questioned Ozai about it at the series’ end.  Either Ozai did give him bad news (Ursa’s dead), or Zuko acted on whatever infor Ozai gave and still found his mother dead, unkown to Ozai.  That would also weigh on Zuko.  I dunno, I find the absence of anything connected to her given the series’ final scenes (the comics’ direct predecessor) also suspicious.
