  • Favorite Piccolo and Gohan scene

Well, I really liked that scene where Piccolo gave Gohan a bath and, and…

Wait,

that wasn’t canon, was it?

Fuck,

Oh, oh, what about that time when-

when-

Okay, in all seriousness.

My favorite moment between them isn’t necessarily a moment BETWEEN them. I’ve always thought that Piccolo was a way better mentor to Gohan than Goku ever was- even, dare I say it, a better father and friend. Even during Piccolo’s harsh training in Gohan’s younger years, before they had a rapport, he was always watching and looking after him.

In the Cell saga, while Goku is letting Gohan get the tar beat out of him by Perfect Cell, Piccolo moves to step in but Goku tells Piccolo that Gohan will get backed into a corner, and then he’ll have no where else to turn to and he’ll have to use his strength. While the other Z Fighters sort of accept Goku’s judgement unthinkingly, Piccolo lays the verbal smack down and let’s Goku in on what a terrible father he is.

THIS QUOTE IS MY FAVORITE FROM THE WHOLE SERIES:

“Enough of this game, Goku. You’re wrong about your son. Gohan may have that power, but it doesn’t matter. He doesn’t thirst for battle and mayhem. He’s not a fighter like you. Do you want to know what he’s thinking? He’s not thinking about strength, or about competition. He is wondering why his father is standing there, letting him die. And so your son may be the most powerful person in the world, but he is also a scared, eleven-year-old boy. I’d rather die than wait.”

In conclusion, Piccolo should just fucking adopt Gohan.

Goku’s an unreliable jackass.

I don’t think they should allow men who HIT THEIR HEAD SO HARD AS KID’S THAT THEY REWIRED THEIR OWN GENETIC PROGRAMMING to raise children. Even a mildly sadistic Namekian is a better alternative.
