I love Slenderman, but I hate so many of the narratives which invoke Slenderman as they so often go the AND THEN THEY WENT CRAAAAAAZY, OOOOOOOH route, which is just— Why can’t I have my eldritch abominations without the LOL CRAZIES punchlines and OH NO NOW THEY’RE MAD AND THUS LOST FOREVER endings? Could somebody write a Slenderman story in which the protagonist is mentally ill but in control of their mental illness, with a supportive base of friends who don’t turn away from them as they come closer to the ~truth~? I would enjoy that.
Besides the very interesting meta on narratives here and new/untried ideas, what is Slenderman? Is that just something anyone can do a story on, like a choose-your-own-adventure thing? (LOL, second time recently I’ve wondered if thing was like choose-your-own-adventure.)
