7. Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011)
The first one surprised me with both it’s heart and intelligence, so there’s only down from there right? Wrong. In fact, I may have liked this sequel better than the original, and no one is more surprised about that than I am. The film has a tight script (which I read was surprisingly given an uncredited rewrite by Charlie Kaufmann) and the animation is beautiful verging on pretty amazing at points. This is some pretty Pixar level stuff from Dreamworks Animation, and in a year in which Pixar released Cars 2, well they better watch their back.
Also, Gary Oldman should do more voice over work, he’s great as the villain Shen.
