I agree completely that people shouldn’t have to choose. I think most of the animosity though is coming from the fact that whoever is marketing Brave is making faulty statements about how Merida is super different from other princesses (granted, Mulan isn’t a princess in spite of her being one officially) or how she rides horses and kicks butt and so on. I think people that love Mulan are maybe feeling like they have to start pointing out Mulan in comparison just in order to make it known that Merida isn’t in anyway better? Just my observation.
